SMALL BUSINESS FINANCIAL COUNSELLING SERVICE

The Small Business Financial Counselling Service (SBFCS) Southern Queensland provides free, impartial and confidential planning and support services to businesses located in the Southern Queensland area.

Different support is available to businesses depending on their location:

• Rural and Regional Queensland
• Metropolitan Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Yeppoon and surrounding areas.

RURAL AND REGIONAL QUEENSLAND

Free, impartial and confidential planning and support services are available to small businesses who:

• have been impacted by drought, COVID-19 or bushfires
• are experiencing or at risk of financial hardship
• are located in Rural and Regional Queensland.

The focus of this service is to empower small businesses to engage in strategic business and financial decision-making that encourages improvements in their financial situation. Support may be provided on either an ongoing basis or to access other Government programs or assistance as required.

Our local small business specialists can come to your business and help you:

• improve your understanding of your business’s financial position
• analyse the benefits and drawbacks of different options to manage financial issues
• develop budgets and cashflow forecasts
• assist you with creditor negotiations
• access dispute resolution services
• understand your rights and accessing broader professional advice and support, and access government and community grants, programs and assistance schemes.

METROPOLITAN BRISBANE, GOLD COAST, SUNSHINE COAST, HERVEY BAY, YEPPOON AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Free, impartial and confidential planning and support services are available to businesses who are:

• experiencing or at risk of financial hardship as a result of COVID-19
• located in metropolitan Brisbane or the coastal tourism hubs.

The focus of this service is to provide support in a coaching or mentoring capacity via the completion of a risk assessment to assess the current and future sustainability of the enterprise.

Our local small business specialists can come to your business and help you:

• complete a financial analysis consisting of an annual cashflow budget/s, statement of assets and liabilities, cashflow analysis and options for business improvement
• when appropriate, assist you to negotiate arrangements with your financial institutions
• encourage you to seek professional advice to develop longer term strategies and plans to improve your preparedness
• refer you to a network of professional service providers for advice with legal, accounting and financial planning and investment matters and social and welfare matters.
